Migraine Masterclass Series 2019

11 February 2019

This series of educational events have been running for a number of years and provides a lively forum for learning, discussion and debate. Please circulate to your colleagues.

The classes are suitable for :

  • General Practitioners and Specialist Registrars in General Practice
  • Specialist Registrars, Associate Specialists and Staff Grades in Neurology
  • Specialist Nurses and Physiotherapists
  • All interested Healthcare Professionals and Students

 

The Migraine Masterclasses are FREE of charge.

 

The classes will be taking place on Saturday 9th March and 23rd March. Starting at 9.00am till 1 pm followed by a free buffet lunch.

Speakers

Dr Bal Athwal BSc MSc MBChB FRCP is the Clinical lead of National Migraine Centre. He is also a consultant neurologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal Free Hospital. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh NHS. His interests include general neurology, headache and migraine, stroke and TIA, dizziness and balance.

Dr Sarah Miller BSc MBBS MRCP is a consultant neurologist at National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery where she specialises in headache disorders and has recently joined the team at the National Migraine Centre. She has an interest in neurostimulation for intractable headaches and headache education for both academic and clinical students.

Prof Paul Booton BSc(hons), MB, BS, FRCP, MRCGP is an Emeritus Professor of General Practice and Primary Care at St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London. He trained in medicine and then in general practice and has pursued a part-time career in general practice ever since. His interest in headaches developed out of GP and academic work out of which he joined the National Migraine Centre in 2011. He retired from clinical practice in 2018.

Dr Nazeli Manukyan MD MRCP MRCGP is a GP in Surrey, a GP appraiser for South London and a Headache Specialist at National Migraine Centre. She obtained her primary medical degree in Armenia and trained in general practice in the UK. She has been specialising in headache management since 2011 working at The National Migraine Centre and treating patients with a wide range of headache presentations including chronic migraine, cluster headache, and medication overuse headache. Her training in contraception and family planning has been beneficial in dealing with hormonal and menopausal migraine triggers.

Dr Katy Munro BM MRCGP DRCOG  works as a headache specialist at the National Migraine Centre. She graduated from the University of Southampton. Dr Munro was a partner in an NHS Practice for 24 years. She now works as an independent GP. Her special interests are migraine, chronic pain, mental health problems and bereavement care. Dr Munro is keen on treating migraine in a holistic way.

Dr Jessica Briscoe BMBS MRCGP  works as a headache specialist at the National Migraine Centre and GP who works in Central London. She developed a specialist interest after suffering from migraine for many years and being successfully managed whilst on placement in a headache clinic. Dr Briscoe is keen on treating migraine in a holistic way.
