Christmas Message from the CEO

16 December 2019

Dear All,

As we approach the end of this year, I want to thank our brilliant doctors, the admin team and our fantastic volunteers and supporters for their hard work and dare I say it, ‘infectious’ spirit. I also want to thank all the patients who have contributed to our various fundraising campaigns and helped out in a myriad of ways, both large and small.

2019 has been an incredible year. It has been one of consolidation, our lead consultant Dr Miller has settled in and we have 2 new doctors nearing the end of their training. We plan to recruit more doctors next year. We piloted Series 1 of our Heads Up Podcast this year with nearly 10,000 downloads. Series 2 is coming out on Monday 20th January 2020. Our team has worked tirelessly to build this platform for the migraine community. Please share and spread the word.

This year we have trained nearly 300 GP’s on migraine management. Our doctors continue to raise awareness of migraine through both print, TV and on social media . We have been active in supporting patient access for the new CGRP drugs and arguing for these to be made available on the NHS.

We are contributing to a number of innovative research projects, many at the very earliest stage and would urge everyone to lend a hand when requests for patient involvement emerge.

We had planned to launch our new Corporate Package this year but events conspired against us. Look out for announcements in Q1 2020.

We are genuinely interested in your feedback whatever it might be. Please don’t be shy in coming forward. As you might expect we can’t implement every idea but we do consider every suggestion.

We know that lead times for appointments have grown and are working hard to reduce these. Please bear with us as we recruit more doctors; there is a limit to how many we can train at a given time.

Finally, I wish everyone a migraine free few weeks and a Happy Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.

Best wishes,

David Bloomfield
